LANGUAGE COURSES
You have only recently started living in Germany and want to get to know the country and its people better? Then the integration course is just right for you!
Structure of an integration course
- Basic course, 300 lessons
- Advanced course, 300 teaching units
- Orientation course, 100 lessons
For the beginning of an integration course, a placement test to determine your previous knowledge is mandatory.
The integration course ends with the final test “German Test for Immigrants – DTZ” as well as the nationwide LID test for the orientation course (LID test corresponds to the naturalization test). Upon successful passing, you will receive the state “Certificate Integration Course”.
By successfully taking the final test, you can prove the language skills required for naturalisation in Germany.
The costs for the integration course are uniformly regulated throughout Germany and amount to 2.20 euros per teaching unit with a subsidy from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), e.g. 1,540.00 euros for the German course with 700 teaching units. For self-payers, a lesson costs 4.40 euros. Participants who successfully pass the final examination can apply to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) for reimbursement of costs (50% of the total costs). Separate regulations apply to ethnic German repatriates and their relatives. An exemption from the costs is possible if proof is required.
